What is covered — and what is not

What the guarantee covers

Every floor we restore is covered by a 3-month service guarantee, starting on the day the work is completed. If a fault caused by our workmanship or the materials we supplied appears in that time, we will come back and put it right free of charge.

It covers problems such as:

  • A finish that peels, lifts or does not cure as it should

  • Visible sanding marks or uneven sanding left by our machines

  • Patchy or uneven staining that differs from the agreed sample

  • Repairs we carried out that work loose under normal use

It applies to normal use of the floor, as long as our aftercare instructions are followed.

Exclusions

Gap filling is excluded from our service guarantee. Wooden floors are a natural material and move with the seasons and with the building itself. That movement can cause filler to crack or work loose and gaps to reappear, however carefully the work was done. This is the nature of the timber rather than a fault in the work, so we cannot guarantee it — see our gap filling page for more on how we approach it.

We also cannot cover:

  • Water damage, leaks, flooding or spills left standing on the floor

  • Scratches and dents from furniture without felt pads or protectors

  • Damage from pets' claws, high heels, grit or wheeled equipment

  • Problems with the subfloor, joists, damp or the structure of the building

  • Natural changes in timber colour caused by sunlight and age

  • Damage from unsuitable cleaning products or lack of maintenance

Raising a problem

Spotted something? Get in touch with a short description and some photos. We will arrange a visit, inspect the floor and, if the issue is covered, agree a date to put it right. Full details are set out in our terms and conditions.
